Christmas Decorations Are Up

The Christmas Tree is up and all trimmed.  It is looking good.  Pat Sue always does a good job with it.

The decorating spirit moved me to add some decorations to the front yard.  I purchased some Snow Men and some Sparking Stars.  Both are charged with the sunlight and a light sensor turns them on when it is dark.

This picture is of course shows them in the day.  The first night they were not too spectacular because they have not have a good full day of charging in the sun.  I will soon post a picture showing them at night.

I also purchased some icicle lights but I will return them.  I just do not want to nail or screw into the metal siding, especially since we rent.

Air Show

We went to an air show at Belle Chase Naval Air Station recently.  It was the first air show that Pat Sue and the kids have had the pleasure to attend.  They say that it may be the last one due to the budget, war, etc.  The Air Force Thunderbirds were the headliner.  However, the F-22 Raptor was also there.  It is our latest fighter.  It is stealth and has vectored thrust so it can make some neat maneuvers.  The Blue Angels not being the headliner was odd.  After all, it is a naval air station (NAS).

The picture is of a special formation they flew to celebrate the Air Force's 60th anniversary.  The F-22 Raptor is on the left, the P-51 Mustang is in the middle and the F-16 Falcon is on the right.  The F-22 first started flying around 2005.  The F-16 started flying around 1979 and the P-51 Mustang started flying around 1942.

End of Soccer Season 2007

Soccer ended for Ramsey and Savannah last Saturday. Savannah did well. She scored two goals and a third if hand balls are allowed in soccer. I don't think that Ramsey is quite into soccer and sports as much as Savannah is. I posted the videos of the goals on You Tube. Here is one of them:

It's Been a Long Time

It has been over a year since the last posting. A lot has happened since then.

May 2007 saw me finally achieve the dream of getting my Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the great school of McNeese State University.

Later in May, I accepted a position with Dow Chemical in Hahnville, LA. I never thought I would live in the New Orleans area again, but the offer and benefits were too good to pass up, so we have moved here. The job is going well and we enjoy living in Destrehan, LA. Everyone adjusted well. The kids have adjusted well. Ramsey likes his new school and is doing well. The schools here in St. Charles Parish are rated relatively high.

I will try to update this blog more frequently.

Croa the Frog Came to Visit for the Weekend

Ramsey was chosen as French Student of the Week. As such, he was allowed to take French class mascot home for the weekend. Just as with Piggy, the frog named Croa came home with a journal in which we were to record the activities of Ramsey with Croa. Pat Sue wrote the following in the journal for Ramsey: "Croa came home with me on Friday. He watched me play with my blocks and play on the computer. Saturday, Croa went with me and my sister, Savannah, and my Mommy to Claire's swimming party. It was too cold for Croa to get in a pool, especially with no lily pads, but I had fun. Croa even kissed a few of the ladies there but he stayed a frog. Sunday, Croa went with me to church and Sunday school. I said two memory verses and he croaked good job. I had great fun with Croa! Thank you for letting him come home with me."

Here is a picture of Ramsey with Croa. Ramsey is on the left.

Mommy went to Momma's for the Weekend

Two weekends ago, Pat Sue went to Baton Rouge to be with her mom and her sister (Mary Margaret) for her mom's birthday. They had a good time there, sitting around the table chatting, standing in the kitchen cooking and chatting, and lying in the bed chatting. There was lots of chatting going on. They even manage to talk Momma into going out to eat on Sunday. Back here at the ranch, the kids and I managed sufficiently, if not minimally. I fed them almost all of the meals they should have eaten. We had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at least once. On Saturday, we went to Ramsey's soccer game and out to pizza with the team. The kids did pretty well just having dear old dad with them. They were glad to see Mommy come home Sunday evening. So was I. Here is a picture that Charlie took of the three girls. He got them mostly in the frame.

Piggy Came to Visit for the Weekend

On Friday, Ramsey was declared "Student of the Week" and therefore was given the privilege to take home Piggy for the weekend. Piggy watched Ramsey play his X-box games. Piggy went to see the movie Barnyard with Ramsey and the rest of us. Ramsey said that Piggy also ate some popcorn at the movie, but that could not be independently verified. On Saturday, Piggy, along with Savannah and Daddy, went to watch Ramsey play soccer. Mommy had to work that day. Piggy took a nap over the weekend. Piggy went to Bible class and Bible hour on Sunday. We took photos of Ramsey and Piggy, one of which will return to school with Ramsey and Piggy to be put on the bulletin board. Mommy wrote the details of the Piggy’s weekend with us in the notebook that came from school in the Piggy Backpack. It seemed that Piggy had a good weekend with us. We had a good weekend with him. (Hopefully Piggy will not divulge any of the negative things he may have seen here with us!)
